My studio is an old classic aluminium farm barn in Blackrock, Co. Dublin. In its past it was a pig barn and then a car workshop. It gives me enormous space and freedom to work in and suits my way of working which is hugely physical and involves a lot of movement around the canvas. I love the act of painting, the physicality that goes into each piece much more than looking at them when they are finished. In summer it is hot as the aluminium heats up and in winter it is freezing. It adds to my enjoyment in a perverse way I suppose. Anyway it is home. The sound of the rain on the aluminium, the light, the ivy growing through the roof, the smell of the past, my world.
